Rain Rain Go Away
So we’ve had a few unfortunate run ins with rain mixing with our plans within the last couple of days. The first couple days we were here the weather was sooooo gorgeous that the rain was quite a bummer.  On Thursday we had a city of Old Esslingen and a Medieval City tour but then rain put a damper on our plans. We started out the tour with dark storm clouds looming in the distant. We hoped that the storm would pass over but no… apparently it wanted to join the tour as well. Our poor tour guide seemed to be scared of thunder and lightening. Right before it began to full on down poor we made it under a bridge where we waited desperately hoping that the storm would pass quickly. While we waited the tour guide told us some interesting stories and a little bit more of the town. One was about the origin of the pretzel!  But clearly the middle of a down pour is the best times for a photo opt. So we took some group photos:
Alas the rain did not stop :( sad day):  so we weren’t able to finish up the tour. :’( We were supposed to end the tour up at the castle and eat dinner at the beer garden there but the rain got in our way. But on Saturday we did get to go up to the castle and explore. Yay! There are 313 steps to get up to the castle! That was a lot of steps!
(Ill upload the pictures tomorrow!)
Friday the rain messed with our plans a bit again. So unfair right? We went into Tubingen to the Lichtenstein Castle. I must totally have the wrong impression of what a castle is, but when I think about a castle I think of BIG huge fortress. Well this is the Lichtenstein Castle:

…. Castle? So they say. The tour was interesting. We couldn’t take any pictures inside, sorry guys! After we left the tour it started pouring again. We ran for shelter under what looked like some where they could shoot or guard the castle from. And like before what do we do when it starts raining? PICTURES!:

So we stand under this opening until the rain finally slows. The rain brought along with it cold weather. Oh yay, how nice of it. And of course we are all in shorts and t-shirts because it was warm earlier. Next on our list of things to do was to go to the climbing park just down the road. We were all so excited to go and were going to be really bummed if we were rained out again! But have no fear! The rain stopped! We had lunch and by the time we finished and headed to the climbing park,  got “suited up,” giving our lesson on how to climb and set off to climb the sun came out and it warmed up. Ya!
(Again, Ill get these pictures tomorrow!)
So this was so much fun. Pretty much you where a harness with clips on it so you are always attached and safe and then you climb through set paths through the trees with different obstacles and zip lines. We had three hours to climb. There are 9 courses and you could do as many as you wanted to (or as many as your body would let you) in the time period. It was really exhausting but SO much fun!
Here is a video of me going down the first zip line we came to. Yes I screamed… really loud. But I did get better as we moved along I promise! lol
(I'll add the video tomorrow!)
After we finished climbing we grilled the sausages we bought earlier in the day, which I think I mentioned earlier. But pretty much if you ever get a chance to go to a climbing park, DO IT!  It was so much fun
